Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus

Is your letter to Santa written yet?  Macy's has declared tomorrow, December 10, 2010 "National Believe Day." When you bring your stamped letter to Santa to Macy's addressed to Santa at the North Pole and drop it in one of their special Santa letterboxes, Macy's will donate an extra $1 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.  Together, let's collect a million reasons to believe.

Prick and Pounce

The August Vulcanfeldt Signal is now up and there is a demonstration for the Prick and Pounce method of transferring an embroidery pattern to fabric if anyone is interested.  It is a great deal of fun, in my opinion.

Open post - Anglo-Saxon necklace

The beads you ask?  Are made of clay.  Yes, clay.  My love affair with clay started when I was 8 years old and my best friend Tiffanie and I discovered that you could mold things out of a play dough like substance into the most wonderful shapes and then bake it and it would stay like that forever.  Imagine our delight.  We decided right then that we were going to be jewelry designers and would sell our new found magic at extravagant prices.  Oh, the joys of ignorance and child-like amazement.

While some might mock my child-like glee of using clay, let's not forget its ancient history dating back to more than 5000 years ago.

For those Inland folks not yet on the wonderful community,inlands_a_and_s  here is a post regarding this weekend's Sergeantry trials.

Entrance is open to everyone and all things arts and sciency.
If you have entered a Vulkanfeldt A&S Competition before, you may enter the same object(s), but I am encouraging entrants to bring something new as well.
No documentation, please.
Judging will be based on populace choice.

The winner will receive this wool haversack lined with felted wool applique and hand woven trim (not mine) completed by moi.

If A&S Competitions aren't for you, but you would still like to display your art or science, please bring it along!

Comment sheets will be available for those who wish for feedback.

Hope to see everyone on Saturday!

(no subject)

Hi all,

For those not in attendance last night at Tir Righ's Bard and a Banquet, a very joyous thing occurred: TRMs placed a very surprised William of the Battered Helm on vigil for elevation into the Order of the Chivalry! Huzzah! For those who wish to celebrate and witness his elevation, it will take place during Cedric and Elizabeth's final court at 12th Night. Pass it on!

This just in from Pennsic

Aethan posted this onto the Vulkanfeldt elist this morning and I just had to share!

Unto Their Excellencies, Shannon and Regina, Baron and Baroness of Vulkanfeldt, and their populace, does their champion, Aethan, send greetings.

Pennsic is a blast, and I have news! Inspired by the good Barony, our Baroness, and my lady, I entered Pennsic's annual Knowne World Baronial Champions tournament in Vulkanfeldt's name. There were many fine baronies represented, but at day's end, Vulkanfeldt won.

Vulkanfeldt's device will now be placed on the Known World Baronial Champion's baldric, joining that of many other noble baronies from across the world.

Shannon and Regina, and the rest of the Barony, I am so happy to be your Champion. Words actually fail me at the pride I have in your hospitality, and the courtesy you have shown me.

See you all for Yule.

Yours,
Aethan

Tir Righ Investiture

Hi all,

TRHs are trying to get their event progress finalized and need some help:

Does anyone know where Tir Righ Investiture in August is going to be held?  The event calendar on Antir and Tir Righ both just have it listed as Tir Righ - Western BC/Northern WA, with no autocrat listed as of yet.

Any help will be appreciated!
